When Walking in the Woods

Owl in my backyard, Protection Island

Thought I’d share this photo my husband took on his way home January14th. This beauty was sitting in our neighbors tree on a trail that follows behind our house.

I live on a tiny island on the Canadian west coast with about 300 of my neighbours. I am a Red Seal chef and certified baker (retired), an artist, an amateur photographer. I write, (unpublished so hesitate to call myself A Writer) sing, and can bang out some reasonable sounding chords on a guitar. And I grow a veggie garden. 1. Wow! Just beautiful! I’ve only seen owls on a few rare occasions. There were a couple that lived in the woods around my husband’s parents’ house.

    1. Yes, it’s almost startling to actually see one in the daytime. The following week after that photo my husband and I were sitting at the kitchen window in the afternoon when a small bird hit the window and hot on it’s little tail was that same owl! He missed the bird and flew to a small tree in our backyard, so I crept out hoping to get another photo of him but he flew before I had the chance.
